Institute for Research of Constantine and Methodius’ Cultural Heritage and Faculty of Arts at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra would like to invite domestic and foreign scientists to the international scientific conference “Changes of the northern part of the Middle Danube region and its vicinity at the turn of Antiquity and the Middle Ages” on April 25 – 26, 2017. This conference is organised within the VEGA project under grant number 1/0468/15.
Scope of the conference
The given topic creates opportunities to present research in the following scientific areas: archaeology, history, philology, military studies, Slavistics, and literary science. The time range of the conference topic includes the period of the 3rd – 11th century.
Suggested topics to be discussed at the conference:
1. Archaeological evidence or analyses concerning material culture;
2. Historical figures, events, and late antique or early medieval historians;
3. Studies on Slavic literature, languages, culture, and history;
4. Research into the history of language and historical studies of literary works;
5. Phenomena of warfare from strategy and tactics to arms and armour.

Publication of abstracts and papers
All abstracts of conference papers will be published in the proceedings. Then all conference papers will be considered for publication in the international scientific jounal Konštantínove listy (Constantine’s Letters, ISSN 1337-8740) which is listed in the Scopus database.
Conference fee
30 EUR
The fee covers publishing of the proceedings of abstracts, lunches and refreshments for participants and other minor conference expenditures.
The aforementioned fee does not cover travel and accommodation expenditures of the conference participants.
Application for the conference
Although an application form also contains the payment requirements, the payment of the conference fee should only be made after attendance of the particular applicant at the aforementioned event is confirmed by organisers (by email) of the conference.
Organisers of the conference reserve the right to accept or refuse a conference application.

Programme of the conference
The programme will be drawn up during the first two weeks of April 2017 and then sent to participants along with an application concerning an excursion and lunches.
